To Eat Meat or Not to Eat Meat: The Judgement

To Eat Meat or Not to Eat Meat: The Judgement

For the sake of not being judged, we are not going to use labels. What am I talking about? Well, here’s the story…

When I started on my plant-focused journey, I decided that I would eat like a vegan (no animal products at all). And I really enjoyed it! I only missed meat occasionally, but it was never enough for me to go and get it.

I really don’t like labels, but when people asked me, I told them I was vegan to make it easy for them to understand (which didn’t really work because many people didn’t exactly know what a vegan is).

But while I was eating “like” a vegan, I still indulged in milk chocolate and in baked goods with eggs, milk, and butter. I didn’t feel bad about it, but people around seemed to have a problem.

They would say things like, “You can’t eat that, you are a vegan.” And I would say, “Correction, I can eat whatever I want. I CHOOSE not to eat certain things.” Or some have told me that they knew I wouldn’t stay a vegan.

Going into this lifestyle change I knew there would be people that would have something to say; to comment on HOW I was living my plant-focused life. But I was prepared!

I thought about what people would say, read many blogs, then decided how I would react or respond to them and their questions. It was really helpful!!

So, what am I doing now?

Like always, I am still plant-focused: eating mostly like a vegan but having the occasional baked goods and sometimes “meat on the side.” This is how I live. I have no regrets and I don’t apologize for it.

What have been your lifestyle changes and challenges?
